Henderson County Open Studio Tour
Mobile application and companion website
The short version: Browsing the tour is completely anonymous. We don't require an account, we don't track you, and we don't sell your data. The only information shown is what participating artists have chosen to share. Optional feedback and check-in features collect the minimum needed to function, and you can opt out at any time.

1. Overview & scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Studio 116 ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Henderson County Open Studio Tour mobile application (the "App") and its companion website (together, the "Service"). The Service helps visitors discover local artists, their studios, and their work during the Open Studio Tour.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy applies only to the Service and not to any third-party websites, maps, or navigation services that you may reach through links in the App.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide voluntarily
- Tour feedback (optional). If you choose to submit the in-app feedback survey, we collect the rating, comments, tour-bus interest, and optional email address you enter. Submission is entirely voluntary. The email field is optional and only used if you'd like a follow-up.
- Account information (administrators only). Artist management and analytics features require an admin account. Admins may be invited by email and create a password. Account credentials are managed by our platform provider and are not stored in plain text by us.
2.2 Information generated by your use
- Studio check-ins (anonymous). When you check in at a studio to collect a passport stamp, the App records an anonymous, randomly generated visitor identifier and the artist you checked in to. No name, email, or account is required. An optional ZIP code may be entered to help us understand where visitors are traveling from; it can be skipped.
2.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise GPS location. The map is centered on a fixed region; you may manually search or move the map yourself.
- We do not use advertising networks, ad SDKs, or cross-app tracking frameworks.
- We do not use analytics or attribution SDKs that profile users across apps or devices.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
3. How we use information
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Anonymous check-ins & optional ZIP code | To power your personal passport/stamp collection across devices and to produce aggregated, non-identifying tour attendance insights for participating artists and tour organizers. |
| Survey responses & optional email | To improve future tours and, where you provide an email, to respond to your feedback. |
| Admin account credentials | To authenticate administrators who manage artist listings and view aggregated insights. |
4. Legal basis (where applicable)
For users in jurisdictions with consent-based privacy laws (such as the EU/UK GDPR or California's CPRA), we rely on:
- Consent — for any optional information you voluntarily submit (survey, optional email, optional ZIP code).
- Legitimate interests — for anonymous, aggregated attendance statistics that do not identify individuals.
5. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information only as described here:
- Aggregated, non-identifying statistics (such as total check-ins per studio) may be shared with participating artists and tour organizers. These statistics cannot be used to identify you.
- Service providers. We use a hosted application platform (Base44 / Wix) and standard map tiles (OpenStreetMap) to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf as subprocessors and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.
- External links. The App links to artists' own websites and to mapping/directions services (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps). Once you leave the Service, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of others.
6. Data retention
- Anonymous check-ins are retained to preserve tour history and aggregate insights. Because they are not linked to your identity, retention does not create an ongoing privacy risk.
- Survey responses are retained for as long as useful for improving the tour, and no longer than necessary.
- Admin accounts are removed when an administrator leaves or requests removal.
7. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit and access controls on administrative features. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information within the practical limits of the Service.
8. Your rights & choices
- Use the App anonymously. You can browse the full tour — map, artists, and details — without an account and without providing any personal information.
- Skip optional fields. The ZIP-code prompt at check-in and the email field on the survey are both optional and can be skipped.
- Delete an admin account. If you have an admin account, you can permanently delete it from the "More" section of the App. Deletion is handled through a secure, server-side process.
- Request access or deletion. To the extent required by applicable law (for example, GDPR/CPRA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you've provided. Contact us at the address below.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is a general-audience event guide and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted in the App or on this page.
11. Contact
This Service is provided by Studio 116. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, you may contact us through the feedback survey in the App (you may include your email if you'd like a reply) or through the contact details published on the Studio 116 website.
